Results of 2nd FAI world paragliding aerobatics championships Lake Annecy 2016| Press release
The week of competition just ended under the sun for 34 athletes from 16 nations on Lake Annecy. The French delegation clinches titles with two athletes taking the first two places on the podium solo (François Ragolski and Tim Alongi) and Theo De Blic who is vice-world champion in sync with its Spanish partner, Horacio Llorens. Austria’s Christina Kolb rises on the top step of the women’s side alone.
Key fact: the Rodriguez brothers retain their Spanish title 10 years later, in sync at the end of a memorable run in the final.
All week long, the judges have assessed athletes based on their technique, style and landing.
PODIUM
Solo Homme
1er François RAGOLSKI (FRA)
2nd Tim ALONGI (FRA)
3rd Horacio LLORENS (ESP)
François Ragolski says: “What made the difference was that I managed to put a lot of good maneuvers. I managed everything on the height. We start initially with options but can we cut or change the schedule at the last moment. I have almost always done what I had planned, but it’s true that it is a “short in height” spot. This is not a sport of chance but preparation of runs and experience paid. The next step is the french Championship in October. I am very happy ”
François is from Dignes les Bains, is a ski, ultralight and paragliding instructor. Tim ALONGI and Theo OF BLIC are from Chambery.
François Bon, the coach: “I am delighted we have 5 boys in the top 10. We score full marks with the first two places, the first nation, the contract is completed. This is the end of a cycle with great rewards at the end. One can be a good pilot but you must know to compete. It is never that long usually, and with 7 runs, we had to manage over a week technics and tactic. This is the achievement of five years of work. So France is the first nation in the rankings. ”
